Toronto, Ontario: January 2007 – Health and Fitness Events have announced that they will be partnering with Rethink Breast Cancer in 2007 for their largest fundraising initiative to date, The Challenge. On April 28th, 2007 The Challenge will take place at fitness clubs across Ontario. The event offers a choice of a two hour pledge-driven fitness challenge in the morning and culminates with a dance challenge that evening. The ‘cycle by day…dance by night’ Challenge is a meaningful way to get involved with your community in support of winning the fight against breast cancer.
“We are excited by this new partnership with Rethink and we are hoping to make this year the most successful ever. Partnering with Rethink allows us to channel funds to assist the Toronto Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre with the purchase of their first digital mammography machine, “said Tina Urman, co-founder of Health and Fitness Events.
Mammography is the only breast imaging test that has been shown in scientific studies to contribute to a decrease in breast cancer deaths. Finding a cancer before it becomes clinically evident is vital in beating the disease. Digital mammography improves the efficiency of the scanning process and allows more examinations to be done. Improved efficiency translates into earlier detection for more women.
“Rethink’s focus is on reaching young women with important messages about breast health, prevention and early detection. We aim to be on the cutting edge and are pleased to be working with Health and Fitness Events to help ensure that young women are detected as early as possible,” says MJ DeCoteau, Executive Director of Rethink.
