An Evening Devoted to Breast Cancer Survivors and the Breast Friends Supporting Them

On October 18th 2006, Rethink Breast Cancer hosted an intimate, inspirational and educational evening devoted to supporting women dealing with breast cancer and celebrating the friendships that are keeping them going. The evening included helpful information, the launch of a star-studded, international photography exhibit, as well as inspiring speakers. 

She’s a Cancer Vixen

Marisa Marchetto, cartoonist for Glamour Magazine and The New Yorker and author of the comic-book memoir Cancer Vixen - www.cancervixen.com - shared the story of her struggle with breast cancer and her life among fashion-fanatic New Yorkers.

Relating to Breast Cancer

Dr. Brian Doan, a psychologist at Sunnybrook Hospital, facilitated discussion about how breast cancer affects, changes and helps develop relationships.

The Power of ‘Breast Friends’

Guests were among the first in Canada to view the international Breast Friends photo exhibit shot by famed fashion photographer, Rankin. Photographs of international celebrities with their Breast Friend, included Beverly Thompson, Dr. Marla Shapiro, Marcia Cross, Rosanna Arquette, Jerry Hall and Geri Halliwell. Click here to learn more about how you can be a breast friend.
