Fighting Breast Cancer One Vertical Step At A Time!

Grouse Mountain's 5th Annual Seek The Peak Relay took place on Sunday July 6, 2008 and raised more than $50,000!

Over the last four years, this unique, pledge-driven event has raised over $160,000 for Rethink Breast Cancer. The 16 km course starts on the beach at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, winds its way through North Vancouver, then heads up the legendary Grouse Grind to the Peak of Vancouver.

Congratulations to Eric Langhjelm and Teresa Hovik who were the first man and woman across the finish line. As well, kudos to the “North Van City Firefighters” who were the Top Relay Team, and to “Cheech And Thong In Training” who were the top Team.

We would also like to recognize the incredible fundraising efforts of Colin Macrae who was the top individual fundraiser, raising $5,100. Colin is the lucky winner of a $500 ROOTS gift certificate and a TELUS Pink BlackBerry® Pearl™! And congrats to the BreastCancerNowWhat.ca Team who raised $4,420. Each member of the team has won a ROOTS gift basket valued at $250.

All fundraisers who raised more than $500 were also entered into a draw to win a Pink BlackBerry® Pearl™ from TELUS. The winner of this prize is Deimi Lee.

Thanks to everyone who participated and to those who collected pledges on our behalf. The funds that have been raised through Seek the Peak has enabled Rethink to continue making a difference in British Columbia by funding innovative breast cancer research and providing support for young women with breast cancer.
